Mass Jazz Exodus

The Mass Jazz Exodus (MJE) is a Fizz prophecy that a giant swath of Gen-Z “Jazz” fans will switch to identifying as fizzheads rather than jazzheads, in retaliation to the Jazz Imperial Complex

There’s a type of Gen-Z “Jazz” fan that is culturally far-removed from traditional jazz (Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, etc.) and more interested in artists that sound way closer to stereotypical Fizz (DOMi & JD Beck, Bill Wurtz, Jacob Collier, etc.).

Fizz and Jazz share many values, but Fizz puts less emphasis on history, tradition, improvisation, and more emphasis on innovation, craft, clarity. The idea of MJE is that once this sizeable cohort of “Jazz” fans realize that Fizz aligns more heavily with their taste and values than Jazz does, they’ll make the switch.

It’s worth noting that this event would be good for Jazz too, since purists won’t have to worry about policing fans of music that isn’t “real Jazz”, when those said fans don’t have any actual interest in “real Jazz”, or the “greats” thereof.
